Which is Worse?

I know we are all probably tired of hearing about it, but I’d like to spend a little more time on the Penn State scandal. Notice I say scandal. That is how the press have branded the situation with child abuse possibly occurring right under the Penn State football team’s nose.

Penn State on the other hand have tried hard to reestablish this crisis as an allegation. Technically the term allegation is correct because no one is guilty until proven in a court of law. In all of the press conferences they try to establish this fact.

However, I think we all know the truth in this situation. The university has taken a lot of measures to eliminate anyone who may have had connections with the situation. Take Coach Paterno for example. The man was a well-respected person throughout the football world who was fired for being around when the abuse had happened. He was never the person who abused the kids, but he still had to take the fall.

So to everyone out there, I have a couple of questions. What word are you hearing most often in relation to this crisis communications mess and how do you feel about Coach Paterno’s firing?
