Message Development

Being able to develop messages does not take only time, but in order to develop messages there are five concrete steps to effect any kind of action. While trying to develop messages the client should be asked several questions about the media, targeting, and positioning. Some questions that should be asked before doing the five step process are: Who is the target audience, what goal does your organization want to accomplish, and what media has the organization used that has been a success. The five step message development process should develop powerful messages in order to become successful.

The first step deals with deciding what action you want to prompt. This deals with deciding what action will be used in order to deliver the message to the specific client that you are working with.

The second step deals with determining what can make the action occur. The second step deals with figuring out who the target audiences are and how these particular audiences able to be identified.

The third step deals with determining why those audiences would take action. This deals with identifying why the target audiences may want to change some things up within the organization.

The fourth message deals with confirming that there will be satisfaction within the organization. The fourth step deals with creating new strategies and how the old or new strategies can satisfying with the client.

Last but not least, the fifth step is writing the message. This deals with defining and writing a strategic message that reached the target audiences as well as the sub-messages while identifying each audience with in the person or organization.

Message development is very important because it deals with identifying issues within the company whether the issues are good or bad. Over the previous weeks I have been working with a group and we have been working on message development. I think that it has been fun working on this project with the group because we actually just completed the five step process.

I found through our Publicity class that message development is a bit trickier than I had imagined. Researching the target audience alone proved to be time consuming, but absolutely necessary. Writing messages cannot be done successfully without knowing how they should be specifically tailored to certain individuals.
